DATE CHANGE ALERT!

It is with mixed feelings of a sense of responsibility and regret that we must notify you of the postponement of The Ethics Institute’s 10th Annual Conference to 15 May 2023.

We were looking forward to welcoming you at our 10th Annual Conference this year. Circumstances have, however, changed dramatically since the President announced a state of disaster in response to the COVID-19 threat. The Ethics Institute is fully supportive of the measures announced by the President to contain the spread of the virus. Now is the time for all of us to act responsibly, calm and decisively in support of all the initiatives to safeguard our people and to save lives. We all have a moral obligation to promote the safety and wellbeing of all people.

In this time of uncertainty, it is impossible to predict the scope and effect of this global health crisis. Our immediate focus is therefore on what we can control and that is to comply with the restrictions, guidance and advice of government and specialist authorities, and to make the necessary adjustments in a reasonable and responsible manner. It is generally accepted that the adverse health, economic and social effects of this pandemic will continue for a considerable period. We have therefore decided to put the interests of all our stakeholders, supporters and patrons first by postponing the 10th Annual Conference to 15 May 2023.

Prof GJ (Deon) Rossouw

CEO: The Ethics Institute

Join us for The Ethics Institute’s (TEI) 10th Annual Conference, taking place on 15 May 2023 at the Indaba Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa. The programme will feature important conversations among prominent South Africans on ethical leadership, organisational ethics and the post-state capture, and post-COVID-19 challenge to jumpstart South Africans' moral resilience.

Why have we chosen the theme of ‘moral resilience’? The extent of state capture and the devastating COVID-19 pandemic revealed endemic unethical practices across all sectors of society, and has left many people disillusioned about the moral fragility of both institutions and individuals. How do we recover from this unfortunate era? Moving on will require something special: moral resilience. The resilience not to be knocked down, but to bounce back and build the ethically responsible society envisaged in the time of Madiba.

The Ethics Institute invites business leaders, directors, academics, ethics officers, governance practitioners, risk managers, compliance officers, legal experts, Social & Ethics Committee members and all other interested parties from both the public and private sectors to attend this 10th milestone conference in 2023.This website is intended to provide you with all the information you need to know about the conference, whether you are a prospective delegate or are interested in sponsoring the event or would like to exhibit on the day. At the same time, we welcome any and all queries if you would like to speak to us directly. You can find our contact information in the menu above.

We look forward to seeing you there!
